ISSUE
A code defect has been identified that can cause classic Outlook to stop evaluating Policy Tips under certain conditions. When the issue occurs, classic Outlook might fail to display Policy Tips and might not properly process the add or remove attachment operations associated with compliance and policy enforcement scenarios.
IMPACT
Affected users might experience one or more of the following symptoms:
Policy Tips do not appear in classic Outlook for E3 customers when expected.
Compliance-related attachment processing and evaluation does not occur as expected when attachments are added to or removed from a message.
Classic Outlook may appear to stop evaluating policy data for the current compose session.
Known Impacted releases 2604 (16.0. 19929), 2605 (16.0.20026), 2606 (16.0.20131), 2607 (16.0.20228).
STATUS: FIXED
The Microsoft Outlook team made a client-side fix to address this problem. The code fix is being introduced with version 2608 of Office. We are backporting that fix to all channels for release in August 2026.
